Raphael Bebezão defeats Jeff Hughes on UFC Singapore preliminary card

The Brazilian Raphael Bebezão achieved his first victory in Ultimate this Saturday morning (26). The Brazilian heavyweight, who debuted in the organization with a setback in August, made peace with the winners' column in UFC Singapore. In the first fight of the show, he beat the North American Jeff Hughes in the unanimous decision of the judges (30-27 30-27 30-27).

With the result, Bebezão reaches the 10th victory in his career in 11 fights as a professional. In turn, Hughes suffers the third setback in 13 duels.

“I did everything I wanted to do, remove the bitterness of the defeat and bring victory to Brazil. I'm very happy, I was motivated and we worked everything we wanted. I was willing to fight up to ten rounds if necessary”, said Raphael still in the Octagon.

The fight

Bebezão showed from his first moves that he was willing to erase the defeat for Cyryl Gane in his UFC debut. The Brazilian took the initiative in the fight, releasing good hand strikes and landing some crosses on Hughes' face.

In the second round, the Brazilian continued to improve his striking and even took his rival to a knockdown. Despite almost finishing the fight, Bebezão was surprised at the end of the round and ended the round on the bottom.

Undeterred by the scare at the end of the second round, Bebezão returned confidently for the end of the contest. He connected the best blows, avoided his rival's takedown attempts well and secured the triumph in the unanimous decision.
