The American Sergio, brother of the former Ultimate champion, Anthony Pettis, is no longer part of the UFC fighter group. After not renewing his contract with the company, the flyweight signed with Bellator and will be part of the competitor's group of athletes. The information was released by 'ESPN'.

Sergio was considered one of the promises of the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg). With 14 fights for the company, the North American fighter leaves the company in fifth place in the division, which today is dominated by Henry Cejudo.

Today, Pettis is 26 years old. The fighter debuted in MMA in 2011, playing for CFC (Canadian Fighting Championship) and remained undefeated in his career until 2013, when he was beaten by Alex Caceres right on his Ultimate debut. For the company chaired by Dana White, the North American won on eight occasions.

The athlete even exchanged forces with the current flyweight and bantamweight champion, Henry Cejudo, when the 'Triple Champion' did not yet boast the number one position in the categories. On that occasion, Sergio ended up defeated by his compatriot in a unanimous decision by the judges, in a fight that represented one of the fights at UFC 218, in 2017.

Pettis was also defeated in the meeting with the current first place in the flyweight rankings and considered to be Cejudo's next challenger, Joseph Benavidez. The North American also had a negative result against the Brazilian Jussier formiga.

In his last performance for the UFC, Sergio emerged victorious after sharing the octagon with Tyson Nam. The duel took place in September of this year and was resolved by the judges' decision, who elected Pettis the winner in a unanimous decision.

At Bellator, Sergio is expected to move up to the bantamweight division (up to 65,7kg), as the company does not have the flyweight category in its fight network. At the top weight, the North American should fight to try to take the belt that currently belongs to Japan's Kyoji Horiguchi.

Sergio currently has 23 fights in his professional MMA record. There are 18 wins and five losses.
