A drop in weight for the UFC Moscow. junior gypsy, former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg), is out of the main fight of the event against Alexander Volkov, which takes place on November 9th. The athlete contracted a bacterial infection and had to be removed from the card for health reasons. The information was released by 'RT Sports'. The Russian's new opponent has not yet been announced.

After the illness, the man from Santa Catarina had to undergo a small surgical procedure to place a drain and remove it later. With the situation, there would not be enough time for the athlete to recover and return to training to be in a position to make a good presentation to the Russian public.
After announcing Júnior's absence from the UFC Moscow, 'RT Sports' also reported that Francis Ngannou could be the fighter to replace the Brazilian on the Russian card. The French-Cameroonian has been insistently asking Ultimate to confirm him on a card so that he can remain active while Stipe Miocic (division champion) and Daniel Cormier (former champion) do not resolve their issues.
In the fight against Volkov, Dos Santos would return to the octagon to try to erase his last performance, when he was easily defeated by Ngannou himself in the main fight of the UFC Minneapolis, in June this year. On that occasion, Cigano was surprised by the giant less than two minutes into the duel, suffering a devastating knockout.
The defeat to Francis interrupted a streak of three consecutive victories for the Santa Catarina native; something that hadn't happened since 2012 in the former champion's career.
Currently, Júnior, 35 years old, has 27 fights, with 21 wins and six losses in his professional MMA career.
Recently, the fighter joined the group of artists participating in 'Dança dos Famosos', the Brazilian version of 'Dancing With The Stars'. The painting is broadcast on open TV on 'Domingão do Faustão'.
