Rafael dos Anjos wants to face Poirier, if the athlete moves up to welterweight: 'I'm willing!'

Brazilian answers fan's question, which suggests clash between former lightweight champion and North American

After he was defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov in a fight valid for the unification of the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg.), in the UFC 242, many athletes want a piece of Dustin poirier. One of them is Rafael dos Anjos. After learning that the North American was considering moving up a division in the future, the Brazilian, in response to a fan on Twitter, stated that he would like to exchange forces against the 'Diamante'.

“I'm willing,” Rafael wrote, responding to a fan who said that a fight between Dos Anjos and Poirier would be exciting.

Dustin's life became very busy after his setback to the Russian. At first, the American even considered an early retirement, due to the disappointment of the poor result against the champion, but the athlete soon managed to recover and assumed the role of a great fighter.

Despite having revealed on a social network his desire to perform among the heaviest athletes, Poirier has sought to fulfill an old desire: to have a rematch against Conor McGregor, by whom he was defeated in 2014.

With the status of former champion, in a similar situation to the Irishman, who also comes from a defeat to the 'Eagle', the 'Diamante' has frequently stated his desire to share the Octagon with the 'Notório' again.

The difficulty, however, lies in the fact that Conor also has a list of 'enemies' willing to face him.

Rafael, in turn, is going through his worst phase within Ultimate. Company champion in the lightweight category in 2015, the Brazilian lost the title to Eddie Alvarez about a year later. Recently, the Brazilian has just one victory in his last four appearances.

Rafael's last commitment took place in July this year, when he lost to Leon Edwars. The setback pushed Dos Anjos to fifth place in the division and removed him from the welterweight elite, making it impossible for him to get a shot at the belt in the near future.
