The strawweight (up to 52,1kg.) has dealt with his defeat to Amanda ribas, at UFC Copenhagen, with a lot of groundedness. Aware of the setback and aware of the mistakes that need to be corrected, the American with Brazilian roots stated that she does not intend to stay away from the octagon for a long time. The fighter, in an interview with 'Combate', asked for a fight for February.

“I want to fight in February, I think there will be a card in Brazil. I would like to fight on this card. I'm going to Mexico now. My husband is going to compete in surfing and it's our turn to support him. I'm going to take about 10 days of vacation and then we're going to Brazil. I will keep training, but if I confirm this fight, I would like to fight in February or March”, declared Dern.

Although she expressed her desire to perform in February on the Brazilian card, the fighter was mistaken about the date. So far, Ultimate has confirmed an event in Brazilian territory and it is scheduled for May 9th, in São Paulo. If the athlete maintains her desire to perform on the card in São Paulo, her return would have to be postponed for a few months.

Mackenzie, despite the defeat to Ribas, still managed to gain morale with the Ultimate board, as well as a portion of the Brazilian public. The American performed at UFC Copenhagen just four months after giving birth to her first daughter, Moa. Given the possibilities, Dern showed a lot of courage in combat and proved that she is capable of withstanding hard blows, given that the combatant, at times, absorbed Ribas' attacks well.

Dern signed a contract with the UFC in March last year, and, at 26 years old, is still considered a promising athlete within the company. To date, the combatant has held three clashes, winning in two of them. In total, Mackenzie has eight fights on his professional record.
