Although he initially said that his return to mixed martial arts would be in the heavier category, Johnson's statement about facing Jones may sound good to the ears of Ultimate's management. Currently, the company has found it difficult to find candidates who can stand up to the undisputed talent of the light heavyweight champion.

Anthony's return, then, adds another possibility of an opponent willing to try his luck and win the 'Bones' belt. Aware that the giant hasn't acted since 2017, when he lost to Cormier in the fight for the vacant light heavyweight title, Jon made a point of making fun of the current physical condition of 'Rumble', who needs to lose around 15kg. to be able to beat the weight of their old division.

“You better make sure your fitness is up to date, buddy,” teased 'Bones'.

The duel between Jones and Anthony is a meeting awaited by many MMA fans. The athletes should have performed in 2015, in the main fight of UFC 187. However, 'Bones' got involved in problems outside the octagon and ended up being removed from the card and stripped of his title. Johnson then faced Daniel Cormier for the vacant belt and ended up defeated by Jon's great rival.

Anthony debuted as a light heavyweight in 2012, when he was playing for the Titan Fighting Championship (TFC).
