The Brazilian Gilbert Durinho seems to be willing to contribute all his strength to the well-being of Ultimate. After answering a last-minute call to face – and beat – Gunnar Nelson, at UFC Copenhagen, in September, the athlete, who currently fights at welterweight (up to 77kg), responded to a call from Francis Ngannou, heavyweight (up to 120,2kg.) famous for his aggressiveness and physical strength. The proposal was made by Francis on Twitter and responded to on the platform by the Niteroi native.

“I want to fight in December. Preferably in Vegas. Otherwise, I will fight anywhere. I just want to fight”, published the French-Cameroonian.

Less than an hour after Francis' publication, Durinho, upon realizing the heavyweight's desire to fight in 2019, responded directly to Ngannou's request and offered to share the octagon with the giant.

“To hell with the weight,” wrote Gilbert.

The chance of Ultimate allowing the fight to happen is practically nil, as they are opponents of completely different weights. However, the Brazilian has been very helpful when it comes to scheduling fights, following a pattern similar to that built by Donaldo Cerrone, who is famous for always being at the disposal of the UFC.

Recently, after being chosen to replace his compatriot Thiago Pitbull at UFC Copenhagen, the fighter, a few days after beating Gunnar Nelson, offered to cover a fight for the event to be held in Boston. The fighter asked to replace Eric Spicely in a fight against Brendan allen.

Ultimate did not accept the proposal, most likely due to the recovery time required for an athlete to recover between one confrontation and another. Durinho, in 2019, played twice in an interval of just over a month.

At 33 years old, the Niteroi native is experiencing a special phase in his career. Gilbert is on a four-game winning streak within the organization.
