The year 2019, in fact, served to put Jared Cannonier as one of the most feared athletes in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg.). Coming from three consecutive victories, two of them this year, the athlete suggested a clash against Yoel romero, recently defeated by Paulo borrachinha. A clash against the Cuban would be essential to put him on the radar for a title fight in the future. The statement was made in an interview with 'BJPenn.com'.

“I think a fight against Yoel romero would put me in a position to fight for the title. He has lost three of his last four fights. Of course, he faced champions and challengers,” said the American.
Although he has in mind the quickest way to fight for the belt, Cannonier states that he will let his next commitments be decided by his representatives with Ultimate.
“I don't know what will happen. I'll let everything resolve itself naturally. I'll let my managers take care of what comes next. I trust them and I think they will come to me with some profitable values, at least, or interesting fights”, said the athlete.
In May of this year, Jared gained more notoriety in the company after beating the legendary Brazilian, Anderson Silva. In combat valid for UFC 237, in Rio de Janeiro, the North American took no notice of the division's most dominant former champion and delivered a devastating technical knockout to 'Spider'.
After the episode, the North American was scheduled to face Jack hermansson, who also achieved stardom after beating a Brazilian athlete. In April, at UFC Fort Lauderdale, the Swede surprised many by beating Ronaldo Jacare, then considered a potential candidate to fight for the belt. Against Jack, Cannonier once again showed his aggression and managed to beat his opponent with a brutal knockout in the second round, in September.
Jared's recent achievements have impressed Israel adesanya, who secured himself as absolute champion of the category last Saturday (5), by winning Robert whittaker in the main fight of UFC 243, valid for the unification of the middleweight title. In an interview after the event, the Nigerian stated that he considers a confrontation against Cannonier interesting because of everything the athlete has shown.
Jared has also impressed with his ability to adapt his body and maintain indisputable physical shape in recent years. The North American has already played in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg), from 2011 to 2016; in the light heavyweights (up to 93kg.) and, since last year, he has been among the middleweights. Cannonier, in three clashes in the division, was never defeated.
At 35 years old, the North American has already had 16 professional fights, winning 12 victories and suffering four defeats.
