The light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.), Jon Jones, mocked the fact that Chris Weidman decide to move up a category and try your luck in the category dominated by ‘Bones’. In the caption of the video itself, 'Bones', with a more serious air, tried to threaten the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) in order to intimidate Weidman, who is going through a difficult phase in his career.

“Be careful with that target you’re putting on my back. He could turn against you”, wrote the American.

Chris announced that he would venture into the new category in June this year. The athlete followed the example of another former lower division champion, Luke Rockhold, who made his debut with the new group in July. On that occasion, the former Strikeforce and Ultimate title holder was surprised by Jan Blachowicz and ended up brutally knocked out in the second round in a fight valid for UFC 239.

Another fighter who chose to breathe new air into MMA was the Brazilian Ronaldo Jacare. The multi-time jiu-jitsu champion left the middleweight division after failing in some opportunities to reach the title shot. Jacaré will make his debut in Jon's category in November, in the main fight of UFC Sao Paulo.

Just like Jacaré, Chris will try to rebuild his career, which is far from the one that established him in mixed martial arts. The North American who became famous for ending the hegemony of Anderson Silva in sport, he comes from four defeats in his last five commitments. Weidman's last performance came in November last year, when he was defeated by Jacaré at UFC 230.

His light heavyweight debut will take place on October 18th at ufc boston, when faced Dominick reyes in the main event of the event. If he wins, Chris will officially enter the division on the right foot, as his rival occupies fourth place in the category ranking. The Ultimate board is even looking for a new opponent to Jon Jones, who has no new belt defense scheduled.
