Former Bellator athlete Katy Collins dies at age 32 as a result of an aneurysm

The coach of former Bellator athlete Katy Collins, 32, JT Tilley confirmed the death of his student. In an emotional post made on his official Facebook profile, the coach praised the athlete's strength and stated that he will miss the former fighter. Collins' death was due to complications that occurred after the American suffered a brain aneurysm. Recently, an online fundraiser was held to raise funds to promote Katy's treatment. However, the athlete did not resist.

“The fight is over. You never stopped fighting and we never gave up on you. It just wasn't in the cards. I will always be so proud of you, Katy. I was honored to live your dream with you. I would never trade it for anything. I will miss you more than words can show,” Collins wrote.

Online fundraising began four days ago. In it, the group sought an amount of US$10 (around R$38) to cover the costs of treating the North American woman's health. The text follows.

“Everyone knows Katy Collins as a fighter, but now the fight is for her life. Katy had a brain aneurysm on Friday (20), and she still has a long road ahead of her. Everyone who knows Katy knows that she is loving, caring, not selfish and has a big heart. Now, she needs help to pay the bills for the next few months with her medical expenses. Please friends and family. Any help is valid. We appreciate your help. Thank you”, they published.

Katy began her professional career in 2015. The athlete debuted with a victory over Katherine Farrow. In her second commitment, the fighter suffered her first defeat, when beaten by Jaymee Jones. Collins, however, managed to put together a great winning streak between 2015 and 2016, which earned the athlete her first contract with Bellator.

For the company, the North American fought twice. In the first, she was defeated, but won in the second. In her last three duels, fighting for the LFA Legacy Fighting Alliance, the fighter was unable to win again.

Her final performance took place in June last year, when Katy lost to Jaimelene Nievera.
