Women's MMA breaks new barriers every day. The sport, which is already popular among Western athletes, has reached fighters in the Middle East. Iranian Kiani Samereh fought her first MMA fight wearing a burqa, traditional Muslim clothing. The debut took place at the 35th edition of Real Xtreme Fighting (RXF), held last weekend in Romania.

The athlete, who entered the fighting area with the uniform covering her entire body, including a veil on her head, did not have a good start to the sport. She was submitted with a rear naked choke in just 19 seconds by Romanian Ana Maria Pal, who was fighting in her fifth professional fight. The final image is impressive (see the video below).

The Romanian secured the choke with Kiani still standing. The Iranian did not give up the fight with the traditional three taps and fell unconscious in the cage. She needed assistance to breathe again and regain consciousness. Even Pal, who had won the duel, showed concern for the Iranian woman's health. Ana Maria couldn't hide her relief when Kiani regained consciousness.
