Ultimate recently announced that Alexander Volkanovsky will be the next featherweight (up to 65,7kg.) to try to take the Max Holloway. The fight was inserted on the card of the UFC 245, which takes place on December 14th in Las Vegas. With just one defeat in his career, the Australian needed seven victories in the company to confirm himself as a challenger for the belt. Volkanovski, in turn, admitted in an interview with 'EMG Access' that he has a lot of respect for Holloway and, despite being sure of victory, he is already open to a rematch against the American.

“People can say whatever they want. He (Max) has been a great champion. If he wants a rematch, I'm already predicting that. I know I will win. I'll take the belt. If they want a rematch, I'll do it. I will beat him again and prove that I am the best in the world. After that, the others can come,” said Alexander.

Volkanovski debuted for Ultimate in November 2016. Since then, the athlete, who suffered his first career defeat in 2013, when he was still fighting for the AFC (Australia Fighting Championship), has never been defeated.

The Australian's fame was assured when the fighter agreed to face the Brazilian José Aldo in Rio de Janeiro, in one of the fights on the main card of the UFC 237. On that occasion, Alexander managed to nullify the 'People's Champion' game, as has rarely been seen. In the final result, the man from Manaus ended up defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges, which ensured that the Australian jumped to first place in the category's ranking and could challenge Holloway for the world title.

Max has held the division belt since beating Aldo himself by knockout in the main fight of UFC 212, in 2017. The man from Manaus had the chance to regain his title, but ended up defeated again in a rematch in the same year. Since then, the North American has defended his belt twice and also won the chance to compete for the interim lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg), valid to make up for the absence of Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was suspended after the confusion caused after his fight against Conor McGregor, in October of last year.

In the upper category, Holloway was not as successful and ended up defeated by Dustin poirier in an exciting combat, representing the main fight of the UFC 236, in April this year. After the episode, Max returned to his division to defend his linear title against Frank Edgar and won again.

For the November fight, Alexander will put into play an unbeaten record that has already lasted 17 clashes. The sequence of victories guarantees Volkanovski the security to fight a high-level athlete like Max.

“I'm going to show the world that I'm the best featherweight. I'm the best featherweight in the world and I'm going to show it on December 14th,” concluded the Australian.
