The atmosphere is expected for Thursday night (19). In New York, Ultimate will promote, at 20pm (Brasília time), the first meeting between the protagonists of UFC 244, Jorge masvidal e Nate diaz. On that occasion, the fighters will answer questions from the press present at the venue and, at the end, they will hold their first face-off before the event, which takes place on November 2nd.

Initially, the company's plans were to hold, as the main duel of the night, the long-awaited clash between Kamaru Usman, current welterweight champion (up to 77kg.) against Colby covington, challenging for the belt. The Ultimate board, however, was unable to reach a financial agreement with the parties and the dispute was removed from negotiations.

Instead of a fight for the belt, the UFC decided to improvise and hold a fight between two athletes who are in demand in the organization.

Nate diaz, 'Bad Boy' known for his laid-back style and for always fighting exciting duels returned to MMA after three years away and beat Anthony Pettis in a dominant performance over the former lightweight champion. After the duel, which took place in August, at UFC 241, Diaz made a point of challenging, still in the octagon, Masvidal, who was present at the event in California.

With no commitment scheduled for any opponent, Jorge readily accepted the challenge. The North American is also coming off an exciting victory. Masvidal, in his last appearance, made history by breaking the company's fastest knockout record in his victory over Ben Askren. On that occasion, Jorge needed just five seconds to deliver a flying knee that exploded into his opponent's face and immediately knocked him out.

Diaz stated that the duel will define who is the most exciting athlete in the sport. After the declaration, the athletes came to an agreement and requested that the UFC create a symbolic belt to be given to the winner of the battle. In the end, whoever triumphs will receive the title of “Toughest Son of a Mother in the Game”.

Even if the victory doesn't earn the belt, the triumph could put one of the two opponents in good condition for a title fight in the future. Currently, Masvidal is in 3rd position in the category ranking, behind only Colby covington (2th) and Tyron woodley (1st). Diaz, who only had one fight at welterweight, is already ranked 6th after beating Pettis.
