The Brazilian Glover Teixeira returns to the octagon for another challenge in his career. Coming off two consecutive victories, the Minas Gerais native seeks to expand his triumphs in the co-main fight of the UFC Vancouver, this Saturday (14), against Ukrainian Nikita Kryolov. For the fight, the athlete states that he has not drawn up a specific strategy, but hopes to win by knockout or submission without having to go through the judges' decision. The statement was made in an interview with 'Combate'.

“It (the fight) certainly won’t go to a decision. I'm going in, I'm going to submit or knock out. I'm a guy who watches the fight and, whenever I can, I'll put my hand on him and, if I can put him down, of course, I'll take him down and work on my ground. I'm 100% prepared, feeling good and I'll get there to end the fight quickly. I don’t like leaving anything in the hands of the judges”, said the fighter.

Proof that Glover doesn't like the result being defined by the judges is that, of his 12 Ultimate victories, only two were decided by the judges. In the first, in 2013, Teixeira beat the legendary Quinton jackson by unanimous decision. The last one, which took place in 2017, the Brazilian won on points after beating Jared Cannonier. In the rest, there was either a knockout or submission by the athlete.

The Sobrália miner, in the same interview, stated that his team does not usually draw up specific strategies to face their rivals. According to Glover, he prefers to wait for the fight to unfold to define the best actions and then decide on the best attitude to emerge victorious. Teixeira, however, guaranteed to know the athlete he will face this weekend and confirmed that he is prepared for anything.

“(Nikita) He’s a very complete guy. There are a lot of knockouts, a lot of submissions, but he was finished a lot and I believe he's a very complete guy but he's still not at my level. When the hand goes in or I put him down, that's it. Of course, he's a tough guy, a guy that I prepared a lot for and I'm prepared for three rounds of war, but I believe that this fight certainly won't last three rounds”, concluded the Brazilian.

Currently in ninth place in the light heavyweight rankings (up to 93 kg.), Glover hopes to add his third triumph in a row to once again dream of a future title fight, which still belongs to Jon Jones, with whom he shared the octagon in 2014, in a valid dispute for the division title.

Like Teixeira, Krylov is also coming off a victory in his last match. After having a sequence of five positive results interrupted by Jan Blachowicz, in September last year, the 27-year-old Ukrainian (12 years younger than Glover), triumphed again after beating Ovince St Preux in UF 236, in April this year.
