Edson arrived in Abu Dhabi with the commitment to recover from the setback suffered in his last performance, when he was knocked out by Justin gaethje, in March this year, in UFC Philadelphia. In seventh place in the lightweight rankings, the Friborg native needed to win to dream again of a future title fight and even face athletes at the top of the category.

His opponent, Paul, previously was ranked 10th in the division. The North American showed great progress in his stand-up fighting and competed on equal terms against the Brazilian.

After the end of three rounds, the result was up to the judges. After the announcement of Barboza's defeat, the audience in the arena booed the judges' decision and challenged Felder's victory, who asked for applause for the Brazilian.

The fight

Paul started the fight by throwing his traditional and feared round punch. The Brazilian threw blows that went by in vain, but always with danger. Aware of the dangers of exchanging foot strikes against the Friborg native, the North American tried to apply a takedown to the Brazilian. Barboza started throwing low kicks in order to hurt his opponent's legs. Felder, from the beginning, walked forward. A kick to the belt from Paul brought the crowd to their feet. The fight was open. After three minutes, the fight was stopped after the American complained of bleeding in the head. After the stoppage, the duel resumed and the combatants attacked each other again. The bleeding on Felder's face began to increase and Edson started to target that spot. The Brazilian delivered another powerful kick to Felder's stomach and was impressed by the noise made in the arena. In the final seconds, the driver from Friborg kept his distance and waited for the horn to sound.

In the second stage, the Brazilian continued to insist on medium kicks. Paul still showed danger in his punch combinations, but the Friborg native was alert. After just over two minutes, Edson feinted a blow and caught Felder's legs, achieving a good takedown. On the ground, Barboza struck his opponent, but Felder responded with elbows from top to bottom. After a sequence of blows, Paul managed to catch Edson's arm and almost managed a submission. The Friborg native, however, managed to free himself and the public cheered at the arena in Abu Dhabi. Standing, the fighters exchanged punches again in the center of the octagon. Barboza was still launching powerful kicks at the North American's body, but Edson's opponent showed impressive resistance. Felder tried to apply a takedown to the Friburgo native, but the athlete defended well.

The athletes came back with everything for the last round. In the center of the octagon, the fighters exchanged strength and sought the knockout so as not to leave the decision to the judges. Even tired, the fighters still presented a lively duel for the fans. Two minutes later, it was Edson's turn to throw a round punch, which shook the American, but his opponent recovered quickly. Coming to the end, the Friborg native tried to get out of Felder's range of action. Paul showed a lot of quality in his boxing and presented a danger to Barboza. The Brazilian attacked less and only dodged or defended his opponent's attacks. With ten seconds remaining, Barboza managed to land another takedown on Felder, who quickly got up. Time then ended.

Islam Makhachev proves superiority and defeats Davi Ramos

One of the most anticipated fights this weekend was the meeting between Davi ramos e Islam makhachev. Known for his excellence on the ground, the Brazilian was unable to impose his game and ended up succumbing to the Russian's constancy in the three rounds of the clash.

With the setback, the Rio native recorded his second negative result since making his Ultimate debut. Islam, in turn, added his 18th career achievement, which only includes one defeat.

After the triumph, Makhachev asked for a duel against Edson Barbosa, or Paul felder, who face each other in the same event.

Davi ramos He started the fight by throwing a straight kick at Islam's chest, but the athlete defended well. The two athletes tried to find the distance to be able to carry out their attacks, whether with blows or takedown attempts. The first to try to take him down was Makhachev, who tried to grab Ramos' leg, but the Brazilian managed to move away. Cautious, the fighters threw few blows. Islam managed a good sequence of direct jabs, which exploded in the Rio native's face and raised the crowd's feet. The fight was tense, as a mistake could be crucial to a defeat. The fighters threw punches, but the attempts ended up in the guard.

The Russian returned to the fight, throwing a straight and cross at the Brazilian, who absorbed the blow well. Makhachev threw a high kick, which was saved and made the Rio native attack his opponent, throwing punches and closing the distance. Islam began to abuse kicks to the waist, and they were responded to by branches. After almost three minutes, the Russian touched his knee to the ground after receiving a direct punch from the Brazilian. However, Islam quickly got up. Ramos found it difficult to find the distance to touch the opponent. Makhachev, in turn, was already finding it easier to hit the Rio native.

In the last stage, Davi needed to get out of trouble and attack his opponent. However, the Russian was attentive and managed to hit the carioca with a good blow, which took the athlete to the ground. Islam fell on top and almost got a knockout, but Ramos managed to protect himself. Makhachev looked dangerous with his elbows thrown from above and frequently hit Ramos, bringing the crowd to their feet. The Brazilian tried to defend himself as best he could, but the advantage belonged to his opponent. Knowing Davi's qualities in jiu-jitsu, the Russian took few risks and managed the good moment. In the final seconds, neither of them attempted any attacks.

Diego Ferreira overcomes dangerous Russian and wins fifth in a row

The Brazilian Diego Ferreira was responsible for a real show at the UFC 242. The athlete, who went through some scares in the first round, managed to overcome himself and raised his game in the following rounds to overcome Mairbek Taisumov in the judges' unanimous decision.

The triumph marked the fifth consecutive victory for Manauara, who hopes to be able to enter the lightweight elite once and for all. Ferreira's victory also ended Taisumov's six-fight win streak.

The fighters began the fight studying each other and avoided taking the initiative to avoid being attacked. Diego tried to close the distance by throwing jabs, but Taisumov was more relaxed in the fight, throwing low kicks and punches to the waist. Two minutes later, Ferreira connected with a good uppercut that touched his opponent's face, but the Russian soon recovered. Mairbek managed to take the Brazilian down after firing a low kick, but the Amazonian soon got up. With two minutes left in the round, Taisumov hit Diego with a cross that exploded on the Tupiniquim's head and knocked the athlete off balance. The Russian, however, was unable to take advantage and allowed Ferreira to recover. The Amazonian loosened up at the end of the round, delivering powerful blows to his opponent, but there was no more time.

Diego returned for the second round and came back more connected. Early on, the athlete managed to land a good right cross that shook his opponent. However, the Russian managed to grab the Amazonian and land a nice takedown. The manauara, safer at close range, began exchanging blows with his opponent, who also responded and showed danger. The fight was open and the striking was frank. Taisumov began to save his blows, but always forced the Brazilian to pay attention to his attacks. Ferreira connected the best blows and began to switch between crosses to the body and kicks to the legs. With two minutes left in the stage, Diego tried to take Mairbek, but the Russian defended well. Visibly tired, Taisumov already looked tired. The advantage belonged to the Amazonian when he sounded the horn.

In the final stage, Ferreira, still at a fast pace, scared his opponent by delivering a flying knee to his opponent. Mairbek defended himself, but was cornered in the fight. The Russian, in the end, was the image of exhaustion. Landing few blows and without pressure, Taisumov was at a disadvantage in his striking. With two minutes left until the end of the clash, Diego also began to show signs of fatigue, but was still looking for more confrontation. Seeking the knockout, Ferreira tried to trap the Russian against the bars, but his opponent continued to spin and attempt few attacks. In the end, the manauara applied combinations and shook his opponent, but Mairbek, despite being tired, showed a lot of courage. In the end, the athletes hit each other in the center of the octagon, but there was no more time.
