Ferguson's excitement is due to the fact that the Ultimate management team has signaled that he will fight for the title soon. According to UFC president Dana White, Ferguson will be the next challenger for the belt and will face the winner of this weekend's duel.

The North American won the right to face the champion after defeating his compatriot, Donald Cerrone, in an exciting clash that took place in the UFC 238, in June this year. Before that, the athlete went through a period of inactivity. Tony's last confrontation was in October last year.

'El Cucuy's' hiatus from Ultimate was due to injuries, as well as psychological and personal problems. Recovered, the athlete, by beating 'Cowby', increased his number of consecutive victories in MMA to 12. Tony doesn't know what it's like to lose since he was beaten by Michael Johnson in May 2012, more than seven years ago.

The athlete has already stated that he would like to fight for the belt in December. However, everything should be resolved after the clash between Nurmagomedov and Poirier, after a medical evaluation of the winner. Both the Russian and the American have already stated that, if they win, they will face Tony.

Ferguson is currently 35 years old and has a record of 27 fights, 24 wins and just three defeats in his career.
