There were not many surprises when counting the weights for the duels in the UFC 242, which takes place this Saturday (7), at UFC 242, in Abu Dhabi. During the weigh-ins, which took place in the early hours of this Friday (6), Khabib Nurmagomedov e Dustin poirier, protagonists of the event, confirmed their presence in the main fight of the show. Only Sarah Moras failed the weight cut.

The two athletes in the main fight of the event, Khabib and Poirier, weighed the same. Both weighed 70,3 kg, the division's weight limit. The duel between the fighters is considered one of the most anticipated of the year, as it brings, in addition to the unification of the lightweight title, one of the most disputed categories in Ultimate, the return of Nurmagomedov to the octagon almost a year after his famous fight against Conor McGregor, which took place in October last year.
The Russian had to take off all his clothes to reach the necessary weight to be able to defend his belt, but he managed to guarantee his presence in the fight.
On that occasion, after defeating the Irishman, the Russian jumped over the cage of the Octagon and tried to attack one of the members of Conor's team, generating widespread confusion in the environment. The episode gave Khabib a nine-month suspension from official fights.
Brazilians ready
The Brazilians Edson Barboza, Davi ramos e Carlos Diego Ferreira they also fulfilled their commitment to the company.
Edson, who weighed 70,3kg, will be responsible for the co-main duel of the night. The athlete will face Paul felder, repeating a fight that took place in 2015, in which the Friborg native came out on top. Barboza tries to recover from the tough defeat suffered by Justin gaethje in March of this year.
Davi ramos, another Tupiniquim athlete to perform at the event, also played his role and guaranteed his presence in the duel against Islam makhachev. The jiu-jitsu world champion weighed 70,7kg. and will enter the octagon to try to enter the lightweight elite once and for all against the promising Russian.
In the first fight on the main card, Carlos Diego Ferreira tries to reach his fifth consecutive victory in Ultimate. The lightweight scored 70,7kg. in the balance and will face the confrontation against the experienced Mairbek Taisumov. The Russian has been undefeated since 2014.
Sarah Moras becomes overweight
Of the 26 athletes who will perform at the UFC 242, only Canadian Sarah Moras failed the weight cut. The athlete in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg), the same category as the Brazilian Amanda nunes, was more than a kilo above the limit, weighing 62,5kg. The athlete's fight, however, was not canceled and the combatant has a confirmed duel with Liana Jojua on the preliminary card.
The duels are scheduled to start at 11:15 am this Saturday (7).
