Last weekend, MMA enthusiasts were able to watch the fall of the former strawweight champion (up to 52,1kg), Jessica Andrade. The athlete succumbed to the strength of the Chinese woman Weili Zhang and ended up losing the belt in the main fight of UFC Shenzhen. Gilliard Paraná, the Brazilian's trainer, stated that 'Bate-Estaca' wanted to silence the critics by trying to increase the knockout on his opponent and ended up deviating from the established strategy. The statement was made to 'MMA Fighting'.

“She was in this euphoria of trying to knock the girl out. Many people had said that she was lucky against Rose (Namajunas) and 'blah, blah, blah'. I think that messed with her head a little”, said Paraná.

For the coach, 'Bate-Estaca should have remained calm and strictly followed what was worked on for the fight against the Chinese. According to Gilliard, the plan was very clear to Jéssica, as it had been carried out against other opponents in the past.

“She didn’t follow the strategy we outlined. Our plan has worked many times before and could work against Weili Zhang also. However, in striking it is like a lottery, a hand can come in and you will fall”, commented the coach.

With the defeat, Andrade will have to find his way back to victory and promote a sequence of triumphs if he wishes to compete for the title again. Paraná, in the same interview, suggested an opponent for a new start. The technician said that a fight against Nina ansaroff, who was one victory away from becoming a potential opponent for the title, would be an interesting start for a new start.

Currently, 'Bate-Estaca' is 27 years old, and has 27 professional fights in his MMA career. The athlete has 20 triumphs and seven setbacks. Even at her young age, Andrade is recognized as the first Brazilian woman to put on Ultimate gloves. His debut for the organization took place in July 2013.
