In the duel against Matt, the cabista will try to resume his climb towards the top of the category. In his last commitment, when he faced Deiveson, the athletes were fighting to get closer to a future title fight, which today belongs to Henry Cejudo.
Alexandre, at the time, was in third place in the rankings, but, after the setback, he took the place left by Figueiredo (4th) and moved away from a fight for the belt, at least in the near future.
In his December commitment, the Brazilian took on a dangerous challenge. The North American exchanges forces with Pantoja and puts into play an unbeaten record that has already lasted four fights, which has placed the athlete in 10th place in the division's rankings.
Matt was only defeated for the last time in August 2017, when he faced Hector Sandoval and ended up surprised by a knockout in the first round. After the negative result, the fighter managed to overcome himself and is now looking to take a leap forward in the category and fight against the division's elite.
At 29 years old, Pantoja has already had 25 official fights in his career, winning 21 and losing four.
Schnell, also 29, has 18 fights, with 14 triumphs and four setbacks.
