The former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.), Rafael dos Anjos appears to have begun his search for a new opponent. The athlete, who tries to recover from the setback suffered to Leon edwards (among the welterweights), in July, he published an image of a promotional poster for his duel against Conor McGregor, which should have happened in 2016 (UFC 196). The fight, however, did not take place due to an injury suffered by the Brazilian. In a post on Instagram, the athlete asked his fans who would like to see the meeting.

At the time, Conor was already a reality in the UFC. The fighter had just hit José Aldo in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg.) and aimed to be one of the athletes to win two belts in different categories in Ultimate. To achieve the feat, the Irishman had to pass the Brazilian, who occupied the number one position after defeating Anthony Pettis at UFC 185, in March 2015.
The fight, however, did not take place due to the fact that Rafael suffered a broken foot in a training session, which would prevent the fighter from performing against the notorious. Conor then had a new opponent: Nate diaz. The clash between McGregor and Diaz ended up being a success, which led to a new edition in the same year (2016).
Still in 2016, Dos Anjos lost his title as champion after being beaten by Eddie Alvarez. Months later, the division champion would become 'Notório' himself.
Rafael dos Anjos The organization is not having a good time. The athlete, who was in fourth place at welterweight, before his defeat to Edwards today, is in fifth place, but has only two wins in his last five fights.
The suggestion for a duel against Conor can be understood along with the fact that both athletes have no fights scheduled. McGregor has not performed since October last year, when he was defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fight for the lightweight belt.
