Former UFC lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) and welterweight (up to 77 kg) champion, BJ Benn was the protagonist of a new confusion outside the Octagon. The athlete was caught in a bar argument that took place this week in Hawaii, which, after a series of provocations, resulted in a knockout suffered by the MMA veteran. The video was released by 'TMZ Sports'. After the incident, Penn's lawyer made a statement to 'KHON2' regarding the confusion.

“When meeting friends for a concert at Lava Shack (bar), we exchanged words between BJ and the acquaintance. Based on witness reports, BJ tried several times to calm the situation, but was repeatedly hit and thrown to the ground, as seen in the video. When he stood up, he was disoriented, but realized the gravity of the situation and the threat, and felt the need to defend himself. We are grateful that neither BJ nor his acquaintance were seriously injured,” said the lawyer.
What can be seen in the images is that the Hawaiian asks to be punched by the other person involved. Penn is hit by a few punches, however, when a left blow touches the fighter's chin with power, he goes to the ground, goes out, but gets up quickly, when he is restrained by people nearby.
In a new video that is circulating, BJ appears riding on the back of what appears to be the same man who knocked him out. On this occasion, the individual is lying with his back on the ground, while the fighter strikes the civilian's head. There are doubts about whether the events happened first.
Recidivist
This is not the first time that BJ has starred in scenes of confusion outside the appropriate space for fighting. In June this year, 'TMZ Sports' had access to images in which the former UFC phenomenon was recorded attacking a man outside a strip club. At the time, people close to the fighter advised him to leave the confusion and leave. Penn, however, insists on confrontation.
At the beginning of the year, the mother of BJ's children obtained a restraining order against the athlete. The request is followed by accusations of sexual, verbal and psychological abuse against the athlete.
end of career
Penn has not had a proud end to his career, as happens in the lives of many former fighters. A long-time friend of Dana White, president of the UFC, BJ remains scheduled for fights, but has been defeated in his last seven consecutive engagements. His last appointment took place at UFC 237, in Rio de Janeiro, when the veteran was beaten by Clay guida in the unanimous decision of the judges.
The Hawaiian's last triumph took place in November 2010, almost nine years ago, when the athlete beat Matt hugs by knockout, at UFC123.
Retirement
Recently, Dana confirmed that Penn will make another UFC fight and assured fans and journalists that it will, in fact, be the last time that BJ will be seen putting on UFC gloves. According to the agent, the Hawaiian listed several arguments for the need for this fight to take place and the 'boss' accepted, under the promise that it would be the company's final presentation.
Penn has a verbal agreement to face Nik lentz, which comes from a defeat against Charles of the Bronx. The date and location have not yet been confirmed.
At 40 years old, BJ has 31 fights, with 16 wins, 13 losses and two draws in his career.
