the american Justin gaethje has been, little by little, conquering its space within the lightweight category (up to 70,3kg.). With two consecutive victories, the athlete has a commitment against Donald Cerrone, UFC Vancouver, in November. Even with a fight scheduled, Gaethje does not hide his desire to be able to face the controversial Conor McGregor in the future. In a recent interview with ‘TMZ Sports’ Justin stated that he hopes to share the octagon with the Irishman after the fight with the ‘Cowboy’.

“I feel like one day we will fight. Probably after ‘Cowboy’ (Donald Cerrone). The winner of this duel, as long as it is a good fight. If he (Conor) is coming back, he has to face someone like me or like ‘Cowboy’. It's not going to be someone like Tony (Ferguson). He could be the loser of the fight between Khabib (Nuermagomedov) and (Dustin) Poirier, but I doubt he wants to do that”, declared Justin.

Gaethje took the opportunity to criticize the fact that Conor is third in the lightweight rankings even though he hasn't performed for almost a year. The last time McGregor stepped into the Octagon was in October last year, in his defeat to Khabib in the division's title fight.

“He hasn't fought in two and a half years (10 months), but he needs to fight and we're talking about it. He's the one who attracts the most attention, he's the biggest star in the sport, he's not even fighting and he's still the biggest star”, said the American.

Conor became the division champion when he beat Eddie Alvares, in 2016. However, the athlete had his title stripped due to his low activity within the sport. The Irishman never managed to defend his belt; not even when he was number one in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg) and not so much among the lightweight divisions.

Gaethje, then, once again stated his desire to exchange forces against the controversial Conor. In addition to his personal desire, Justin also reported his indignation at the fact that McGregor was caught attacking a man in a bar in a video released a few weeks ago.

“So of course I want to finish him off. I see him punching an old man, and I want to punch him for it? Of course. I want to crush that guy”, concluded Justin.

Gaethje comes from two consecutive victories in the organization. In his last performance, the North American surprised the dangerous Edson Barboza and won by knockout, in March, at UFC Philadelphia. In 22 professional clashes, the American was defeated on only two occasions. Currently, Justin is fifth in the lightweight rankings.
