Year in, year out and Jon Jones continues to be a reference when it comes to dominant athletes in MMA. With each fight scheduled, opponents claim that they will shock the world and put an end to an unbeaten streak that has lasted almost 10 years. This time, The Polish Jan Blachowicz He is the man who says he is capable of beating the legend of the sport and becoming the youngest light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg). In an interview with the recent 'Ariel Helwani's Show', Jan commented on the ambition of sharing the octagon with 'Bones'.

“I want this (the fight). I deserve this and I believe I'm the guy who can stop Jon Jones”, declared Blachowicz.
The Polish's name as a possible candidate to exchange forces with Jones came after the athlete convincingly beat the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg), Luke Rockhold in his debut in the top category. On that occasion, Jan was able to land a beautiful knockout on Luke in the second round after nullifying the North American's takedown attacks.
Before the confrontation, news was circulating behind the scenes that Rockhold, in the event of a victory over the Pole, could be the name to face Jones in the near future. As Luke's triumph did not occur, Blachowicz believes that he deserves to take the place of the new challenger, as his last opponent, theoretically, would receive the chance to duel for the belt.
“A lot of people said that if he (Luke) beat me, he would be next against Jon Jones. I beat him, so it’s my turn”, said the athlete.
The Pole also stated that 'Bones' reign could be coming to an end due to the fact that new talents are emerging in the sport. For Blachowicz, opponents are becoming more skilled than in the past.
“He (Jon) remains the same, but we are better. We started to catch up. We’ve reached his level now”, concluded the fighter.
Currently, Jan, 36 years old, occupies fifth place in the category ranking. In his professional record, the Pole has 32 fights, with 24 victories and eight defeats. His last setback came in February this year, when he was knocked out by the Brazilian Thiago Marreta, last to lose to Jones.
