Elizeu Capoeira shows anxiety for this Saturday’s duel: ‘Crazy to fight’

the paranaense Elizeu Capoeira will have a big challenge this Saturday (31), when he faces the Chinese li jingliang in his country, at UFC Shenzhen. Coming from seven consecutive victories, the fighter will have to face an opponent who fights with the public in favor and has been enjoying two consecutive victories. The Brazilian, however, showed confidence in his good performance this weekend and commented, in an interview with ‘Combate’, his expectations for the clash.

“We have several plans (for the duel) and we put into practice what is easiest to lead us to victory. For this fight, the plan is outlined. I’m ready and eager for Saturday to come out and fight with him”, declared Elizeu.

Capoeira debuted in the UFC in 2015. At the time, the athlete was defeated by Nicholas Dalby in the judges' split decision. Since then, he has gone seven fights without losing in Ultimate. The excellent sequence of positive results earned the Paraná native a place among the top 15 in the welterweight category (up to 77kg), which is currently dominated by the Nigerian Kamaru Usman.

The Brazilian, fight after fight, awaits his opportunity to enter the top 10 of the category once and for all so that he can get closer and closer to the chance to fight, one day, for the title.

If he emerges victorious, the fighter may have his wishes fulfilled in his next commitment and be able to face a better ranked athlete within his division. According to Elizeu himself, some fights have already been requested by him and his team, but the board did not respond to any of the requests.

Capoeira is currently 32 years old and has 26 fights in his professional record, with 21 wins and five losses. In his last engagement, the Brazilian defeated Curtis Millender by submission, in March this year.

li jingliang, 31, has 21 fights, with 16 triumphs and five setbacks. In his last appearance, the Chinese achieved a great knockout in David Zawada, in November last year.
