After causing controversy by attacking a man in a bar in Ireland a few weeks ago, Conor McGregor seems to have felt a reality check. In addition to apologizing for what happened, the athlete showed that he is focused on returning to MMA and listed some names he would like to fight against; among them, that of Frankie Edgar. Knowing the fact, the North American didn't take long and responded positively to the challenge, highlighting that he would face the Irishman in any category. The announcement was recently made on its official Twitter account.

“You know I'm ready to fight, Conor McGregor. This fight should have happened a long time ago. I know I'm moving down to bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg.), but, for you, I can perform in any division. Any time and any category. You know I’m the game”, published Edgar.
Frankie was recently defeated by Max Holloway in yet another unsuccessful attempt to obtain the featherweight title (up to 65,7kg.). The North American had already placed himself as a challenger on two other occasions in his former division, but ended up defeated both times by the Brazilian José Aldo.
When including Frankie on the list, McGregor stated that his desire to face the American is due to the similarity of Edgar's style to that of Khabib Nurmagomedov, his eternal rival and for whom he was defeated the last time he entered the octagon, almost a year ago, in October last year.
Edgar has great wrestling and, according to Conor's words, the fight against Edgar could serve as preparation for a possible rematch against the Russian in the future. In addition to the North American, the Irishman also mentioned the name of José Aldo as a possible new opponent. Conor's fame increased when he told the world that he would defeat the Brazilian in the featherweight title fight and so McGregor did. In 2015, the 'Notório' delivered a devastating knockout to the 'People's Champion' and emerged victorious in just 13 seconds of combat.
In addition to Edgar and Aldo, Conor also mentioned names such as Khabib himself, Nate diaz, Jorge masvidal, Tony Ferguson e Justin gaethje. With the exception of José and Frankie, all the other athletes have victories in their records.
Recently, Frankie, 37, admitted that he will play in the bantamweight division, which is currently reigned by his compatriot, Henry Cejudo. This will be the third category in which Edgar fights for Ultimate. The fighter has also performed in the lightweight division, and was even champion of the division between 2010 and 2012.
