A victory with a capital “V”. This is how Elvis Batista da Silva defined his performance at Shooto Brasil 94, an event held last Friday (23), in Rio de Janeiro, which earned him the organization's super bantamweight belt (up to 63,5kg). Fueled by his triumph against former Bellator champion Marcos “Loro” Galvão, the Rio Fighters athlete arrived confidently for the duel against Minas Gerais native Glyan Alves. And, after three rounds, where he managed to impose the strategy outlined by his team, he had his arm raised and the belt buckled around his waist.

“It was truly a victory with a capital “V”. My opponent was very tough and had a very dangerous game! But I worked with patience and a lot of movement. The strategy outlined with master Miltinho Vieira was to make him make mistakes and play on his mistake. Winning the Shooto belt was an important step for my career and I hope this opens doors to fight in the UFC or in another renowned event like Bellator”, said the native from Espírito Santo.

Pupil of Miltinho Vieira, Elvis now has a record of 17 fights, 11 of which were triumphs. The victory at Shooto was the third in a row. Due to the great moment in his career, he hopes to have a chance in the UFC, and is lobbying to fight in the edition that will be held on November 16th in São Paulo.

“My expectation now is to close with the UFC. Who knows, maybe they'll take advantage of the fact that they're creating a card for November in São Paulo and put me to work at the biggest MMA event in the world? I'm ready! But, if the invitation doesn't come, I will continue training hard and I will be ready for the opportunities that arise. But, I repeat: 'UFC, I'm here'”, concluded the tough guy.
