Anderson Silva says he will only return in 2020 'to fulfill the two fights in his contract'

Without fighting since injuring his leg in his fight against Jared Cannonier, in Rio de Janeiro, in May, Spider has scheduled his return for next year.

the return of Anderson Silva to the octagon should only happen in 2020, according to the fighter himself. Spider, who hasn't fought since May, when he injured his leg in the fight against Jared Cannonier, UFC 237, in Rio de Janeiro, revealed to a fan that he will undergo knee surgery before competing again.

Through his Instagram account, Anderson responded to a fan, who questioned whether he was physically well enough to fight again.

“I have a knee operation. I must return next year to finish the contract. I have two more fights on my UFC contract,” Silva wrote on his social media account.

Involved in two doping scandals, since breaking his leg in December 2013, fighting against Chris Weidman at UFC 168, he recorded just one victory in seven appearances. The last time Spider left the octagon with his arm raised was at UFC 208, in February 2007, when he defeated Derek Brunson in the unanimous decision.
