Alex Leko's UFC debut in April this year did not go as he had planned. Despite being called at the last minute to join the UFC Russia card, the Santa Catarina native from Balneário Camboriú hoped to perform better against the Russian Alexander Yakovlev. But the defeat is behind him, and Leko will have a new chance to show all the potential that led him to sign with the biggest MMA organization on the planet. This Saturday (10), the Brazilian lightweight will face Mexican Rodrigo “Kazula” Vargas at UFC Montevideo, in Uruguay.

“I'm very motivated and I'm going in search of this victory. I trained very hard so that nothing surprises me during the fight. In my debut, my opponent was happy to find that position (Leko was submitted with a guillotine choke), but I know I made a technical error. But I learned the hard way that I can't neglect myself for a minute during a fight”, said the Astra Fight Team athlete.

If in his debut in the organization Leko was called up with little time for the fight, this time the Brazilian had to deal with changing opponents. Initially he would face Raphael Fiziev, but less than two weeks before the fight he had his opponent changed. Now he will face Mexican Rodrigo “Kazula” Vargas, who is left-handed and will make his debut in the organization.

“The strategy changes a little because the opponent is now left-handed, and the angle of entry to connect the blows is different. Fighting with a southpaw is very different, as the entire right side is open to both. But I'm well prepared and that won't be a problem. I know that if I do my best, I will leave with my hand raised”, concluded Leko.

PUBLICITY:

At just 23 years old, Leko had a record of 22 fights, 20 wins and just two losses in his career. His opponent, who is 33 years old, has a resume of 12 fights, ten wins and two losses.
