The current UFC women's champion (up to 56,7kg), Valentina Shevchenko, revealed that his rivalry against the Brazilian is not yet over Amanda nunes. The athlete, now in a new category, stated that she believes her path could cross again with the 'Lione' in the future. In a recent interview with 'MMA Fighting' the fighter, who will defend her title this Saturday, spoke about the subject.

“Our destiny between Amanda and me is not something you want, it is not something she wants or I want. It's past that point. Will happen. It will happen one day”, said the champion.

Shevchenko has already faced the Bahian on two occasions. The first, in 2016, at UFC 196, the fighter was defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges, when Nunes was not yet the UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg). The second meeting between the athletes took place in 2017. On that occasion, the 'Lione' held her second belt defense and beat her rival in a split decision from the judges, which led a portion of MMA enthusiasts to question the result of the clash.

Currently, Valentina admits that she is fulfilled by the fact that Ultimate has created a division in which she can perform within her original weight. Among flyweights, the fighter has shown that she is an athlete with better performance than in the category in which she had been acting (bantamweight). Even with plans to face pojucana in the future, the athlete revealed that she may take some time to rest after her challenge this Saturday. The fighter will have her second fight in less than three months.

“We’ll see how it all plays out. Because after the fight with Jessica Eye (June), I expected three or four months of rest and training, but then I had the opportunity when the UFC offered me a place in Uruguay and I accepted. So, let’s see how it all ends”, concluded the champion.

Valentina is currently 31 years old and has 20 fights, with 17 wins and three defeats in her career.
