The featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) of Bellator, julia budd, invited the Brazilian Chris Cyborg to migrate to the Ultimate competitor. After having her contract with the UFC terminated, the Brazilian is now at an impasse as to what direction her career will take. In a recent interview with 'MMA Fighting', Budd tried to help with Cris' decision and was open to a confrontation in the future.

“Come to Bellator. We have the best featherweights in the world. I think everyone has been thinking about this for a long time. I don't know what she wants to do with her career, but I definitely think it makes sense,” said the champion.

In recent months, Cyborg has faced problems with UFC president Dana White, who accused the athlete of having refused a rematch against Amanda nunes. The 'Lioness' was responsible for defeating Cyborg in a duel that took place in December last year, which cost Cris the loss of the featherweight belt. After the episode, rumors about a new fight began to emerge, however, instead of a rematch, Nunes returned to her home division to carry out another defense of her bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg), against former champion, Holly holm, in July.

In the meantime, the Curitiba native remained without acting. With just one more fight under his belt, Cyborg agreed to face Felicia spencer, former Invicta FC champion in the co-main fight of UFC 240. After beating her opponent, the athlete stated that she would accept to renew her contract with Ultimate for just one fight, which would be against Amanda in the long-awaited rematch. Cris, however, demanded that Dana apologize in public due to the insults directed at the Brazilian in the past.

White did not accept and ended up giving up on the renewal with Cyborg, leaving the athlete free to negotiate with any other company. Cris then evaluates some possibilities, which impresses Julia, who thinks the best option for the Curitiba native is Bellator.

“She has been talking about the PFL, about other organizations like ONE, Rizin. Anyway. Does not make sense. I know what I would do if I were in her shoes,” Budd said.

Julia has been Bellator champion since March 2017, when she beat Marloes Coenen by knockout. Since then, the athlete has defended her belt three times. The Canadian is undefeated in 11 fights and hasn't lost since 2011, when she was submitted by Ronda Rousey, in the now defunct Strikeforce.
