Considered by many one of the greatest heavyweights (up to 120,2kg) of all time, the former UFC champion, Cain Velazquez, made his debut as a professional wrestling athlete. In an event that took place last Saturday (3), in Mexico City, the fighter was one of the stars of 'Triple Mania', one of the references of the sport in Mexico. During the show, the athlete lifted the audience present at the venue and surprised him with his performance with plastic movements worthy of applause.

The former champion confirmed his presence at the event at the end of March. It was then up to the athlete to carry out adequate preparation to be able to present himself to the public in a way that would excite the audience, given that the sport is one of the most prestigious sports in Mexico. Cain, however, did not disappoint. The athlete showed the public complex movements for a newcomer and drew praise from one of his coaches, Vinnie Massaro.

“Cain was a great student. Not only because he is a great athlete, but because he has a great mentality for wrestling. He wants to learn everything and he is not afraid to leave his comfort zone”, said the coach.

Velasquez's performance this Saturday also impressed one of the athlete's teammates in the new organization. Cody Rhodes, who also performed at this weekend's event, stated that the fighter was quite surprising for being a newcomer.

PUBLICITY:

“I'm really impressed with him. He looked like a big kid. He was breathing and was giving himself time to feel the audience. I was happy to see that premiere,” Rhodes said.

Outside of wrestling, Cain's career isn't going very well. The athlete has remained away from the octagons following injuries that prevent him from performing like he did years ago. In his last appearance for the UFC, the fighter ended up defeated by Francis Ngannou in less than 30 seconds of combat, in the fight held in February this year. Before that, the American's last confrontation had taken place in 2016, when he beat Travis Browne by technical knockout.

Velasquez became UFC champion in 2010. In his first defense, he was defeated by junior gypsy, but regained the belt two years later. In 2015, the athlete was surprised again by a Brazilian. This time, Fabricio Werdum he was responsible for removing Cain, who has not regained the belt since then.
