The Brazilian Gilbert Durinho accepted the last minute challenge and will replace Laureano Staropoli at UFC Montevideo, which will take place on August 10, in Uruguay. The athlete will face Russian Alexey Kunchenko in the third fight on the preliminary card in a duel valid for welterweight (up to 77kg). The information was released by 'Combate'.

Gilbert will act outside of his original category. Normally, the Niteroi native fights at lightweight (up to 70,3kg). However, for this fight, the athlete will act around seven kilos heavier and will try to bring another victory for Brazil on a card full of South American athletes.
The last time Durinho fought was in April this year. On that occasion, the Fluminense won a submission victory over Mike Davis in the second round of the clash.
Gilbert, however, took on a risky challenge. The Fluminense will face the undefeated Alexey. With 20 duels and no defeats under his belt, Kunchenko will head to Uruguay for his third fight since debuting for the UFC in September last year. Known for his aggressiveness in fights, the Russian has 13 knockouts in his career.
At 33 years old, Durinho has 18 fights on his professional record. The Brazilian won 15 and suffered three setbacks in all of his MMA appearances.
