In an interview with the North American website MMA Weekly, Lombard stated that he wants to fight Anderson Silva soon.
“I've always wanted to fight in the UFC throughout my career, I want to be middleweight champion and I have to fight Anderson Silva”, stated Hector, who does not hide his admiration for the Brazilian athlete. “I respect him as a fighter, it would be an honor and a dream come true to test my skills against his,” added Lombard.
At 34 years old and undefeated for 25 fights, Hector, who trains at American Top Team, wants to be Ultimate champion and become the first Cuban to succeed in the most famous octagon in the world.
“I wouldn't be in the UFC if I didn't think I could win the world title. I want to prove that I'm the best, I'm very proud of my heritage and I want to represent all Cubans around the world when I fight in the UFC.”
Although the agreement with the UFC was confirmed last week, the organization has not yet announced the date and opponent for the debut of Hector Lombard In the event.
