According to information, on the day of the alleged crime, Jones was at the nightclub and allegedly slapped the waitress and tried to force her to sit on his lap, in addition to starting to kiss her on the neck. After refusing, the fighter allegedly tried to choke him and then insisted on continuing to touch the alleged victim by force.

After the incident, the waitress, already at home, would have called the police and reported the incident, thus registering a police report against the fighter.

'KRQE New 13' also reported that Jones did not appear in court to provide clarification on the case on the scheduled date. Therefore, the responsible authorities issued an arrest warrant for the UFC champion.

In defense, people close to Jon stated that the American was not aware of the accusations and that he was not at the indicated location due to ignorance of the cause. The athlete, however, later appeared in court and paid bail of US$300 (approximately R$1) and was released. After discharge, the warrant was suspended.

'Bones' representative, James Hallinan, upon learning of the release of the information, released a note in an attempt to clarify the situation.

“Today, the media told Mr. Jones about a false accusation leveled against him and that paperwork had been sent to the wrong address. However, after receiving the documents from the press, Mr. Jones immediately went to pay the fee. He and several witnesses are ready to clarify the lies disclosed to the public.”

Regarding the accusations, Jon Jones made a point of responding to a fan on a social network who questioned the UFC competitor's attitude. After mentioning that the athlete was once again in trouble, the fighter contested the statement.

“I'm not in trouble. Don't believe everything you read,” replied 'Bones'.

Recidivist

This is not the first time that Jones has appeared in the police pages in the city of Albuquerque. In 2015, the athlete fled the scene of an accident after being involved in a car crash with a pregnant woman. For what happened, he was sentenced to one year and six months on probation, in addition to being stripped of his post as light heavyweight champion.

In 2016, Jon was accused of participating in illegal car races. According to reports, Jones' vehicle had modifications that suggested the activity. When approached by an Albuquerque police officer, the American allegedly offended the authority, calling him a 'liar' and a 'pig'. The champion, at the time, was arrested and sentenced to 60 hours of community service.
