The Brazilian Jennifer maia definitely didn't start UFC San Antônio off on the right foot. At the official weigh-in held this Friday morning (19), the Curitiba native was almost two kilos above the fly weight limit (up to 56,7kg) and did not meet the scale commitment required by Ultimate. With the failure, the athlete must pass on 30% of her purse to her opponent this Saturday (20), Roxanne Modafferi. The rest of the fighters who will step into the octagon did not present any major problems.

Jennifer's opponent presented herself to the inspectors first. Always in a good mood, the North American, this time, appeared at the event wearing a wig, drawing smiles from the audience and weighing 56,7kg. Soon after, the Brazilian appeared at the place to check her weight. With the expression of someone who was visibly uncomfortable, Maia was unable to hide her disappointment when the equipment checked her official weighing: 58,5kg.
After learning about her rival's failed weigh-in, Modafferi used her social media to comment on the case and take a dig at Jennifer.
“I'm here hydrating backstage and I found out that my opponent didn't make weight. What? How boring. Well, I’m glad the fight is still on,” Roxanne posted on her official Twitter account.
With the exception of the Paraná native, all 25 fighters checked their weights within the limits of their divisions, including the athletes responsible for fighting this weekend's main duel: Rafael dos Anjos e Leon edwards, weighing 77,6kg.
