Former UFC fighter Abel Trujillo arrested for sexual exploitation

American fighter has been detained since May and faces up to 18 years in prison

Fighter Abel Trujillo was arrested in the state of Colorado (USA). The former UFC fighter is accused of child sexual exploitation and obscenity. He had bail set at US$10 (about R$37.200). The arrest took place on the 24th of May, but only this Tuesday (16th), the Canadian channel TSN announced the action.

Trujillo, 35, has a preliminary hearing scheduled for next Thursday (18), where he will be presented to the judge responsible for the case. If he is convicted, the fighter could face 12 to 18 years in prison and also pay a fine of up to US$100 (R$376,8).

The accusation of sexual exploitation is not the first crime involving Abel Trujillo. In 2007 and 2009, he was convicted of domestic violence.

MMA career

Abel Trujillo hasn't fought since December 2017, when he was defeated by John makdessi at UFC Winnipeg. The North American was fired by the organization afterwards and did not agree to another show. He has a record of 15 wins, eight losses and one “No Contest” (fight without result).
