John Allan vents after victory at UFC Sacramento: 'Living a dream'

Brazilian, who accepted fight 12 days in advance, reveals experience of winning in UFC debut

The Brazilian John allan I could not be happier. After being defeated on 'Contender Brasil' (UFC Reality Show), the athlete states that he did not imagine receiving another opportunity to work for the organization, but, after accepting a last-minute fight against Mike Rodriguez and winning, last Saturday (13), the light heavyweight (up to 93kg.) says he has achieved and promises more achievements. The statement was made in an interview with the official UFC channel.

“I am making a dream come true. I fought two weeks ago, and I knocked out in the second round. This opportunity came up a day later and I embraced it with all my might. I worked my whole life to get to this day. I got up there (the octagon) and, for him to beat me, he would have to take me down. I was willing to do anything”, said the athlete.

The Curitiba native still remembered when his plans to sign a professional contract with Ultimate were frustrated after being defeated by Vinícius Mamute in 'Contender Brasil'. According to the Brazilian, his hopes of joining the group of UFC athletes became slim after the setback for his compatriot.

“I participated in Contender almost a year ago, and it was a very difficult defeat. I had to reinvent myself and turn things around. I bet everything on that fight and ended up losing. I was going to spend almost a year without fighting, and today I'm here again, making my UFC debut with victory”, said the fighter, exuding happiness.

With just 12 days of preparation, Allan revealed he didn't have time to study his opponent's game. Willpower, then, was the most important factor for the athlete to emerge victorious in this weekend's fight, in which he was declared the winner by unanimous decision of the judges.

“I didn’t have much time to study his game. But I was on gas, and I went up to kill or be killed. I embraced this opportunity as the last one in my life, and thank God, it worked out. They let me arrive, now, hold on”, commented the man from Paraná.

With the triumph, John achieved his 14th victory as a professional fighter, which also includes five setbacks. Allan's last defeat, aged 26, happened precisely in 'Contender Brasil', in August last year.
