Welterweight (up to 77kg.) Jorge masvidal is on his honeymoon with Ultimate. After exciting MMA enthusiasts last Saturday (6), at UFC 239, by defeating Bem Askren after just five seconds of combat, the athlete now has a new target: Conor McGregor. In a recent interview with 'The Dan LeBatard Show', he showed interest in facing the Irishman in his next match, as the champion of his category, Kamaru Usman, recovering from herniated disc surgery.

“I want (Conor) McGregor. I want to break his face. I think he's an easy fight. He has a lot of money involved. I don’t see him beating me, to be honest,” said Jorge.

The North American also teased the fighter with the fact that he had given up in his last defeats. One, for Nate diaz, in 2016, and the other, which represented his last fight for Ultimate, against Khabib Nurmagomedov, at UFC 229, in October last year, with the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg) at stake.

“He runs away. He hits. I have never given up in my entire career. He's given up a few times and I noticed that. It's something I've never done and I think I would break it. It would be an easy fight”, teased Masvidal.

Another motivating factor is the size of the financial burden brought by the Irishman every time he decides to compete in MMA battles. McGregor, lately, only accepts fights when the monetary return is high and it's worth it for him to be willing to go into training.

“That means more money, more fans and then a title fight. Either commitment makes sense to me,” said the American.

Jorge stated that his initial desire was to fight against the current champion of the welterweight division, Kamaru Usman. However, the Nigerian is recovering from surgery for two herniated discs and, so far, is unable to perform.

“Definitely the fight against Kamaru Usman interests me. He has the belt and that's what I want. But he's always injured,” said Masvidal, who still intends to play once again this year.

At 35 years old, Jorge is an athlete who has a high number of fights on his professional record. In his 16-year career, the athlete has performed on 46 occasions, winning 33 and being defeated in 13.
