Marreta will undergo surgical treatment in the USA and the recovery time is at least eight months. Information about the return deadline was given by the fighter's team in an interview on the Combate channel website.

In this case, the Brazilian athlete would only compete again in the first quarter of 2020, postponing a possible immediate rematch against Jon Jones, in December, the date on which the North American would like to compete again.

In addition to the serious injury to the joint in the left knee, doctors suspect a partial injury to the ligaments on the right side. A new exam should be carried out this week in the USA.
