Brazilian John Lineker asked and the UFC answered. After complaining about not playing much within the company, the bantamweight (up to 61,2kg) was released by the organization. The athlete had recently asked to be released from his UFC commitments unless more fights were scheduled for the athlete. The information was released by 'MMA Junkie'.

The Paraná native debuted in the UFC in 2012. Known for his aggressiveness and high knockout power, the athlete found it difficult to find opponents who would accept duels against him.
For Ultimate, the fighter competed in 16 fights and emerged victorious on 12 occasions. The last time he entered the octagon was in April this year, when he was defeated by the American Cory Sandaghen, at UFC Lauderdale.
The athlete was scheduled to perform at UFC Greenville, on the 22nd, in which he would face Rob fontHowever, a cut on his eyebrow the week of the fight caused the Brazilian to be removed from the card.
At 29 years old, the athlete from Paranaguá has an impressive record. Lineker competed in 36 fights and won 29, also adding seven setbacks.
In May, the fighter took to social media to ask the UFC to cast him more often to perform at their events. At the time, John stated that, in the last three years, he had only held three clashes.
“My last opponent (Cory Sandhagen) fought four times in one year. He already has another fight scheduled. Sean Shelby (fight promoter) likes him. I have only fought four times since 2016. I need to fight. If you don’t like me or my style, just release me”, asked the athlete at the time.
With the decision, Lineker is now free to sign a contract with any organization.
