The confidence of the light heavyweight (up to 93kg) is on the rise. In addition to being the next opponent of Jon Jones for the division belt, next Saturday (6), for UFC 239, the athlete declared his dislike for the interim middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.), Israel adesanya. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the Rio native explained the reasons for his dislike for the Nigerian.

“I would love to beat Adesanya. I don't think he's a good guy. I would love to face him. I don't know how many times I met him. I don't know, but we didn't get along. The energy, I don't know. I can not explain. The same thing happened with Michael Bisping. I feel people's energy. Whether he's a bad person or not, I don't know. But we didn’t get along well”, declared Thiago.
Even with his statements, Marreta does not detract from the undeniable talent of the Nigerian, who won the interim middleweight belt after an exciting duel against Kelvin Gastelum No. UFC 236, which took place in April this year. In the fight, the two athletes showed their full potential and managed to raise the audience in a five-round confrontation, which, in the end, made Israel official as the new champion, together with Robert whittaker (lineal champion).
“As a fighter he is really talented. He has the gift. I can't disagree with that. But I don't think he could face me. He can't stand someone who hits so hard. Someone who doesn’t fall for your game”, said the Brazilian.
In addition to the findings, Marreta also used the argument that Adesanya did not show much superiority when faced Anderson Silva, against whom he fought in November last year and was declared the winner by unanimous decision between two judges. Israel, 14 years younger than 'Spider' was superior, but suffered some scares throughout the fight.
“His fight against Anderson, you can see that he (Israel) is not that good,” said the Rio native.
Even confessing his ideas about the middleweight champion and his desire to share the octagon with him in the future, Thiago states that his focus is completely on Jon Jones, the biggest opponent of his career.
“That’s something to think about later. I have to think about Jon Jones. I think that if things work out against Jones and I win, I can try to win two belts”, concluded Thiago.
