The main fight will mark the meeting between the Brazilian Renato Moicano against Chan sung jung, or 'Korean zombie'. If he wins, the Brasilia native will return to his dream path of competing for the category title in the future.
In addition to Renato, Brazilian Ariane Lipski and Anderson Berinja will perform at the event.
Mohawk x Korean Zombie
The Brasilia native tries to erase the bad result obtained when he faced the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.), José Aldo, in February this year, at UFC Fortaleza. On that occasion, Moicano was severely punished by his compatriot at the beginning of the second round, which culminated in the athlete's knockout. At the time, Renato was beginning to emerge in the division as a likely challenger for the category title, which today belongs to Max Holloway.
This Saturday, looking to win again, the Brazilian will face an opponent known in MMA, but who is also coming off a defeat in the organization. O 'Korean zombie' was defeated in his last commitment when he faced Mexican Yair Rodríguez, in November last year, in Denver (USA). In combat, Chan dominated the fight and managed the result, which, if decided by the judges, would certainly favor the South Korean. However, with just one second remaining, the athlete was surprised by an elbow that caused him to be knocked out instantly, resulting in the end of the clash.
The best moment of Zumbi's career within Ultimate happened in 2013, when the fighter faced the then champion, José Aldo, for the category title, at UFC 163. At the event, Sung ended up being knocked out by the 'People's Champion' in the fourth round and his dream of a belt was frustrated.
The winner of the duel will be able to aim for greater heights within the featherweight division, with his belt being put on the line at UFC 240, in July, when Max Holloway will face Frankie Edgar and will determine whether or not to continue as sovereign of the category.
More Brazilians on the card
In addition to Renato, Brazil will be represented by Brazilian Ariane Lipski and Anderson Berinka.
Lipski will hold her duel against the North American Molly McCann in the fly division (up to 56,7kg.). With 15 fights and 11 wins in her career, the 25-year-old from Curitiba will face an opponent who fought on eight occasions and was defeated on just two.
Coming from a defeat, Anderson Berinja will be responsible for opening the event in a duel against the North American Andrew Ewell, who also suffered a setback in his last commitment. The athletes will face each other in bantamweight (up to 61,2kg).
Lineker out
Brazilian John Lineker would be another Brazilian athlete to step into the UFC Greenville Octagon. The fighter would perform the duel against Rob font, which would mark the co-main fight. However, two days before the fight, the athlete was surprised by a knee to the eyebrow in training, which resulted in a cut, making the athlete unable to compete. Lineker was then removed from the card.
