“I heard something and thought: 'It's not possible that they are doing construction right now, on a Sunday'. When I said that, I heard a loud bang. It was as if the ceiling fell from floor to floor. When I heard it, I called my dog and we ran away,” Macy said.
According to the fighter, there was no time to store any belongings. The desperation and urgency to escape were so great that people left with just the clothes on their backs. According to the athlete, many people fled with their underwear. Chiasson also injured his foot while leaving the building.
“No one was prepared for anything,” Chiasson said. “People were in their underwear. There were several people who were completely covered in debris, dust and bleeding. It was terrible”, said the fighter.
Macy also said that the apartment was all she owned in her life. With the loss, the athlete reported that she has nothing left except her dog.
“I completely lost everything. I have nothing. I literally have this shirt, a pair of shoes and shorts that I have on. I have nothing but my dog. Everything is gone”, lamented the American.
The fighter revealed that she has already filed a lawsuit against 'Bigge Crane and Rigging', the company responsible for operating the crane.
Chiasson is considered one of the UFC's promises for the future. The 27-year-old athlete currently has five fights in her professional MMA career and has never been defeated in a fight. Her last performance took place in May of this year, when she defeated Sarah Moras at UFC Ottawa. Macy, today, is in 11th place in the bantamweight division.
