The Brazilian Thiago Marreta will be another one trying to end the reign of the, until then, unbeatable Jon Jones. In a recent interview with the website 'MMA Junkie', the challenger for the light heavyweight title (up to 93kg) commented on the difficulties of finding gaps in 'Bones' style. The athletes will share the octagon in the main fight of the UFC 239, on July 6th, in Las Vegas (USA).

“We weren’t able to find a flaw in his game. But we never saw him with his back on the ground. Better yet, we never see him flat on his back and getting hit. So, we’ll see”, commented Marreta.

The fighter, however, made a point of talking about his opponent's versatility. Jones is considered by some to be the best fighter in MMA history. His fame was achieved by performing well in all the styles required in mixed martial arts.

“He is a very intelligent guy. He adapts. If he's poorly on his feet, he takes the fight to the ground. If it's bad on the ground, he takes it upstairs. If it's bad in the center of the octagon, it will attract you to the bars. If it doesn't work out, he goes back to the center”, explained the Brazilian.

Marreta's mission is not simple, but he has a team that is working around the clock to decipher the enigma that surrounds Jones' superiority over his opponents.

“If there is a secret formula, I believe someone would have noticed it by now. But there is something we noticed. We are working on it. My coaches are studying him”, said Thiago.

Marreta won the right to challenge 'Bones' after winning four fights in a row, three of them by knockout. The Brazilian's main characteristic is the aggressiveness with which he faces his opponents inside the octagon. The athlete's hope is that he can surprise the North American, shock the world and bring the title to Brazil.

In his entire career, Jones was defeated only once, when he was disqualified for illegally elbowing Matt Hamill, in the final of TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) 10, in 2009. Almost 10 years have passed since the incident and, since then, , the phenomenon won 15 victories in his career in Ultimate.
