“In these four days, after another mission that was not successful, I am questioning whether or not I should still continue training, dedicating myself, overcoming injuries, pain, etc. I always ask myself: 'is the love I feel for the sport not consuming my mind and body to the point where I can no longer continue'?”, asked Silva.
Anderson also commented on his dedication to the sport and all the difficulties he faces to stay in shape and prepared against adversity within MMA.
“All I have ever done is be a good soldier on my battlefield, the best trained, the most disciplined and ready to die for my mission, because my love for my work has always spoken and speaks louder. I am completely sure that I can do all of this a thousand more times, but, in the last four days, with pain, with the uncertainty that nothing new in my routine is consuming me more than before. In fact, my warrior heart and mind confuse me to the point of creating doubts”, wrote the fighter.
Anderson Silva He is considered by many to be the greatest MMA athlete of all time. At his peak, 'Spider' managed to dominate the middleweight division and accomplish feats that few fighters will achieve. The number of belt defenses that the Brazilian has (10) was broken only once, for Demetrious Johnson (11), in the flyweight category (up to 56,7kg.).
Today, at 44 years old, the Brazilian finds himself in a dilemma about whether to continue his successful career, or accept the facts that his body is no longer the same as it was in the past and declare his retirement. More experienced, the athlete definitely doesn't feel embarrassed when he enters the octagon; proof of this is his last battle against the current interim champion of the category, Israel adesanya. At the time, many believed the Brazilian was an embarrassment, as he fought on equal terms against the promising athlete.
At the end of his publication, the Brazilian legend still left a message for his fans, but left his expectations for the future in the air.
“Guys, what we should really do is take advantage of all the opportunities that life gives us to improve ourselves as people.
So always remember that your failures are always the best teachers and it is in difficult times that people need to find a reason to keep going. Our actions, especially when we have to overcome ourselves, make us better people. Our ability to resist and continue on the path is what makes us special people”, concluded Anderson.
