The Brazilian was suspended from fighting after, in an examination, the substance 'Trenbolone' was found, which increases physical vigor and muscle mass, directly affecting the athlete's performance. Abdelaziz, however, confessed to believing in the athlete's innocence, suggesting an accidental ingestion.

“I believe he didn't cheat, but the system caught us. Everything is fine. He still has one more year and will return to the Octagon”, said the businessman.

Werdum has not fought since March 2018, when he was defeated by the Russian Alexander Volkov by knockout in the main fight of UFC London. When his suspension ends, the athlete will be almost 43 years old.

At the end of last year, Fabrício even requested the termination of his contract with Ultimate. The organization, however, denied the fighter's attack. The Brazilian claimed that he would like to fight in Russia, where the punishment established by USADA does not come into force. With the refusal, the former heavyweight champion was left to serve his sentence away from the spotlight and the Octagon.

At 41 years old, the Brazilian has a record of 32 fights, 23 wins, one draw and eight losses. Werdum enjoyed the peak of his career when he unified the heavyweight title by shocking the world and defeating, by submission, the former absolute champion of the category, Cain Velazquez, at UFC 188, in 2015. The title, however, was stripped from 'Vai Cavalo' when he faced Stipe Miocic in 2016, at UFC 198, in Brazil. Since then, Fabrício has played four more times, winning two and being defeated in the other matches.
