the american Jared Cannonier stated that the injury to Anderson Silva in the duel between them does not minimize his great achievement. The athlete spoke about the case at the press conference that took place after the UFC 237, in the early hours of this Sunday (12). Anderson needed medical help to leave the octagon.

“I don't think they will remember my victory just because he was injured. Fighters get injured all the time. If you care about this, you shouldn't be fighting. I dislocated my rib a few days ago and he (Anderson) hit me in the ribs three times. If he hurt his knee, it was because I hit him in the knee,” said Jared.

Another question raised was about the boos received after the North American was announced as the winner of the fight. After what happened, the public reacted openly against the fighter. Cannonier, however, admitted he was partly to blame for the incident.

“If they reacted like that, it was because I provoked them too. It was like poking a bear. But I understand. I won't apologize for what I did (Jared, after the knockout, put his hand to his ear asking the audience to make noise). I understand that they wanted to defend their hero”, commented Cannonier.

After the victory, the fighter should move up further in the middleweight rankings (up to 83,9kg) and can begin to dream of a future fight for the category belt. Currently, the linear title belongs to Robert whittaker, which will face Israel adesanya (interim champion) to unify the division belt at the end of the year.
