In the main fight of the night, the North American Rose namajunas accepted the challenge of putting his belt on the line in 'enemy' territory. Famous for not letting herself be shaken by external pressure, the athlete faces the brave Jessica Andrade, who, if she emerges victorious, will make Brazil reign in women's MMA, holding three of the four existing belts.

To get in the mood, our team selected five reasons to follow the UFC 237. Check out:

PUBLICITY:

1 – Opportunity to see Anderson Silva in one of his last performances

Anderson Silva He hasn't retired yet, but he is already considered by many to be an MMA legend. The athlete reigned in the middleweight category (up to 83,9kg) for seven years and an impressive 10 title defenses. His hegemony ended after the defeat by the North American Chris Weidman in July 2013, at UFC 162. At the time, the world stopped to watch the fall of a great champion.

'Spider', however, remained a fighter. The Brazilian went through bad times in his career after a series of defeats and doping accusations. However, Anderson returned to the spotlight after facing the current interim champion of the category, Israel adesanya, in February this year.

PUBLICITY:

At 44, Silva faces Jared Cannonier in the co-main event of UFC 237, which represents one of the last fights of the athlete's career. Anderson has already announced that he intends to retire after his contract with Ultimate ends. This, therefore, is one of the last chances to watch the performance of a still active legend.

2- José Aldo returns to perform for the Rio public

Who doesn't remember the celebration of José Aldo after the beautiful knockout applied to Chad Mendes at UFC 142 in 2012? Since the episode, it has been seven years since Aldo surprised everyone by leaving the octagon to celebrate his victory in the middle of the Rio audience.

Two years later, Chad returned to the 'Marvelous City' for a rematch against Manauara. After this new chapter, Aldo no longer played in Rio. Today, the 'People's Champion' is experiencing a different moment in his career. Still at the top, the Brazilian no longer holds the featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg). Although he is the number one challenger, the athlete was defeated twice in a row by the current champion: Max Holloway. A victory over Alexander Volkanovsky would confirm that José is, in fact, the biggest name for a new fight for the belt, but his recent defeats could weigh negatively on this fact.

3- Close to retirement, Minotouro faces Ryan Spann

The 'Nogueira' family is well respected in the world of mixed martial arts. Brother of the legendary Rodrigo 'Minotauro', Rogério made history in the now extinct 'PRIDE' and, since then, has won over fans all over the world.

Against the North American, the 42-year-old Brazilian will have his 32nd career fight. Owner of a record that totals 23 wins and eight losses, the Bahian has already publicly stated that he has no desire to act for a long time. This, therefore, could be one of the athlete's last fights.

4 – Former UFC champion, veteran BJ Penn has his first fight in Brazil

In the only fight without Brazilians involved, B.J. Penn arrived in Brazil to hold the first fight of his career in Brazil. Penn has already made history in the organization after becoming champion in two different categories. In 2004, BJ won the UFC welterweight title after submitting Matt hugs at UFC 46. Four years later, in 2008, the athlete dropped down a category to successfully try for the lightweight belt (under 70,3kg) in a duel against Joe Stevenson, at UFC 80.

At 40 years old, the Hawaiian will face Clay guida in the fourth fight of the preliminary card. Although he is not the fighter who once filled the eyes of MMA fans, BJ still carries with him the fans who once applauded his performances. The Hawaiian hasn't won a fight since 2010. In his last seven fights, he was defeated six times and drew on one occasion.

5 – Belt dispute between Jéssica Bate-Estaca and Rose Namajunas

This will not be the first time that a world champion has come to Brazil to put her title on the line against a Brazilian athlete. In 2015, the former UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg.), Ronda Rousey came to Rio de Janeiro with the intention of silencing the Brazilian Bethe Correia. The North American kept her promise and won the duel.

Jéssica 'Bate-Estaca' will therefore try to change this story. In this weekend's storyline, many factors differ from the previous situation, including the champions. This time, the champion is Rose namajunas and the category is straw (52,1kg). Jéssica, over the years, has shown her qualities and proved to the Ultimate board that she is more than capable of being a great champion.

The athletes will face each other in the main fight of UFC237, which takes place in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday.
