In a recent interview with 'Combate' the fighter stated that the public's preference is part of the game. The athletes will duel in the co-main fight of the event, which takes place in Rio de Janeiro.

“I've heard worse things in my life. People have called me worse things than 'you're going to die'. I've had worse things said to me. I understand, it's part of the game. I don't play the game, I fight. Anyone who wants to play the fans' game, that's their problem. The fans are completely irrelevant to me,” said the fighter.

Brazilian fans are well known, not only in the world of MMA, for presenting a different and fanatical way of treating athletes who compete for their country. In mixed martial arts, the cry of 'uh, you're going to die' has become a well-known catchphrase for fighters of different nationalities.

Despite not caring about the public, Cannonier showed complete respect for Anderson Silva. The 44-year-old fighter is considered a legend of the sport and, even though he is not at the peak of his career, he is the target of concern for the North American.

“I have the greatest respect for him (Anderson). I love him. As a fighter, I'm a huge fan. I've been watching his fights since I started taking an interest in the sport. I like the way he carries himself outside of fights. That, for me, is even more admirable”, commented the North American.

Jared's admiration for Silva, however, goes beyond the limits of the octagon. For the athlete, Anderson is an example, also outside of fights.

“Anderson seems like a good man. He has children, a family. I didn't hear anything from him, like from other guys. I have the greatest respect and it's an honor to share the octagon with him. I can't wait to meet him, look him in the eye, go to the cage and fight him.

The fighter also said he was not afraid of the fighting style used by Anderson in his duels. Regarding strategy, Cannonier compares the Brazilian to Mike Tyson and says he is prepared for what he will face in the octagon.

“I never saw him trying to get into the minds of his opponents. They (opponents) let Anderson get into their heads. It is like Mike Tyson, who beat his opponents before even entering the ring,” concluded the athlete.
