At the age of 39, after the fight ended, Teixeira addressed UFC president, Dana White, and said that he still has what it takes to fight at a high level. Glover went through an unstable time at the company. In his last four fights, he was defeated on two occasions. With the victory, the Brazilian once again stands out in the light heavyweight category (up to 93kg).

The fight

Ion started the fight by taking the initiative and landing a good high kick to Glover's head. The Brazilian, however, absorbed the blow well and tried to take the fight to the ground. Cutelaba, however, was well prepared in takedown defenses. Ian's blows began to land in the Brazilian's face, who began to accuse his opponent's attacks. After two minutes, Cutelaba landed an elbow that landed on Glover's chin, who fell to the ground. The Brazilian managed to get out of the choke and started managing the fight to recover.

Despite being a great striker, Glover was at a disadvantage against the Maldavian athlete. Cutelaba's blows always landed dangerously on the Brazilian's face. The Brazilian began to alternate between striking and attempting takedowns, but Ion remained efficient in his defenses. After two minutes, Cutelaba tried a punch and lost his balance. Glover took advantage of the moment and went into his opponent's guard. Glover, in his specialty, looked for Ion's back, threw some blows and managed the submission in a great comeback.

Perry, however, had sharp striking and managed to hit the Brazilian in the face a few times. In the middle of the round, Cowboy seemed to have run out of steam. Linker continued to throw more forceful blows, but Sandhagen landed more attacks. At the end of the stage, the Brazilian managed to get an important takedown on his opponent, who managed to get up quickly.

In the last round, Lineker had to go all or nothing. The Brazilian needed to make up for the damage suffered in the last rounds and go after his opponent. Having difficulty finding the distance, John ended up becoming a hostage to the difference in size compared to the North American. On several occasions, the man from Paraná unleashed powerful blows, but they went far from his opponent's face. Even at a disadvantage, the Brazilian showed courage and almost managed a submission at the end of the fight. The North American, however, was saved by the end of the clash.
